Target Information
Porcine E-selectin, also known as ELAM-1 (Endothelial Leukocyte Adhesion Molecule-1) or CD62E, is a key regulator of leukocyte adhesion to the endothelium in pigs. It plays a significant role in various disorders, particularly in the context of inflammation and immune responses. E-Selectin is largely inactive in resting endothelial cells but is consistently expressed in response to inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin-1 (IL-1), bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS), viral infections, or tumor necrosis factor (TNF). This protein facilitates the interaction of circulating leukocytes with vascular endothelium under inflammatory conditions and is important for the migration of hematopoietic stem cells.
