Target Information
The CETP gene in rabbits encodes the cholesteryl ester transfer protein, which plays a crucial role in transferring neutral lipids, such as cholesteryl ester and triglyceride, between lipoprotein particles. This protein facilitates the net movement of cholesteryl ester from high-density lipoproteins (HDL) to triglyceride-rich very low-density lipoproteins (VLDL), while simultaneously enabling the equimolar transfer of triglyceride from VLDL to HDL. Previous studies have demonstrated that inhibiting cholesteryl ester transfer protein can enhance endothelial repair and improve endothelial function in rabbits.
