Target Information
Plasminogen activator inhibitor-2 (PAI-2), also known as placental PAI or SerpinB2, is a serine protease inhibitor belonging to the serpin superfamily. It functions as a coagulation factor by inactivating tissue plasminogen activator and urokinase. PAI-2 is found in three polymeric states: monomeric, polymerigenic, and polymer (the inactive state). Although direct evidence for a specific function of PAI-2 in rabbits is lacking, based on its role in humans and other mammals, it can be hypothesized that PAI-2 in rabbits may also be involved in a number of biological processes such as regulation of the fibrinolytic system, tissue remodeling, inflammatory responses, and cardiovascular health.
