Target Information
Bovine adiponectin receptor 1 (AdipoR1) is a cell surface receptor that binds specifically to globular adiponectin, a proteolytic cleavage product derived from the C-terminal of adiponectin. It is predominantly expressed in muscle cells and is linked to the activation of cAMP-mediated kinase pathways. AdipoR1 plays a significant role in mediating the effects of adiponectin in cattle, particularly in enhancing insulin sensitivity, promoting fatty acid oxidation, and regulating glucose metabolism. It is also involved in anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities. The activation of AdipoR1 by adiponectin has been shown to increase the proliferation of Bovine mammary epithelial cells and protect them from endoplasmic reticulum stress responses, suggesting its importance in the development and function of the mammary gland in dairy cows.
