Target Information
Bovine aspartate aminotransferase, cytoplasmic (GOT1), also known as glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase, is an enzyme that catalyzes the reversible transamination reaction between L-aspartate and α-ketoglutarate, producing L-glutamate and oxaloacetate. This enzyme plays a crucial role in amino acid metabolism and is widely distributed in various tissues, including the liver, heart, and muscle. Elevated levels of GOT1 in the serum can indicate tissue damage, making it a valuable biomarker for diagnosing liver and heart diseases.
