Target Information
Bovine transforming growth factor beta-1 (TGF-β1) proprotein is a precursor to the active TGF-β1, a multifunctional cytokine that plays a crucial role in immune regulation, cell proliferation, differentiation, and tissue repair in cattle. It is involved in a variety of physiological processes, including embryonic development, tissue homeostasis, and the immune response. TGF-β1 is also associated with the pathogenesis of diseases such as fibrosis and cancer. In its latent form, it is bound to the latency-associated peptide (LAP) and must be activated to exert its effects on target cells. The activation process often involves interactions with extracellular matrix components and proteolytic cleavage events. Once activated, TGF-β1 signals through cell surface receptors, leading to the activation of intracellular Smad proteins, which then regulate gene expression and cellular responses.
