Target Information
Canine apolipoprotein C1 (ApoC1) is a protein that plays a significant role in the metabolism of lipoproteins in dogs. It is involved in the metabolism of triglyceride-rich lipoproteins by inhibiting the binding of very low-density lipoproteins (VLDL) to their receptors, reducing the activity of lipoprotein lipase (LPL), and stimulating VLDL production, which leads to increased plasma triglycerides. ApoC1 also participates in the metabolism of high-density lipoproteins (HDL) by inhibiting Cholesterol Ester Transfer Protein (CETP), affecting the transfer of cholesterol esters between lipoproteins. These functions make ApoC1 an important factor in lipid homeostasis and potentially in the development of cardiovascular diseases.
