Target Information
Canine creatine kinase M-type (CKM) is an enzyme that plays a crucial role in energy metabolism within muscle cells. It catalyzes the conversion of creatine and ATP to phosphocreatine and ADP, which is essential for maintaining energy homeostasis during muscle contraction. CKM is predominantly found in skeletal and cardiac muscles and is one of the three isoenzymes of creatine kinase, with CK-MM and CK-BB being the others. It is also an important biomarker for muscle damage and can be detected in serum and cerebrospinal fluid, with potential diagnostic applications in veterinary medicine for assessing neuromuscular disorders.
