Target Information
Spectrin alpha chain, non-erythrocytic 1, also referred to as Alpha-Fodrin, is encoded by the SPTAN1 gene in chickens. Structurally, spectrin-like proteins resemble spectrin, exhibiting a flexible rod-like form. While they can bind to actin, they differ in their calmodulin-binding activity. In non-erythroid tissues, spectrins, along with other proteins, are potentially crucial for membrane organization.
