Target Information
Canine IL-13 protein is a cytokine that plays a significant role in the regulation of immune responses, particularly those mediated by Th2 cells. It stimulates the production of allergen-specific IgE in vitro by peripheral blood mononuclear cells from sensitized dogs, which is similar to its effects in humans. This suggests that canine IL-13 is a central mediator of allergic diseases and that allergic dogs may serve as excellent models for research on IgE-mediated diseases in humans.
