Target Information
Canine nitric oxide synthase, inducible (NOS2) is a key enzyme that catalyzes the production of nitric oxide (NO), a messenger molecule with diverse functions throughout the body. In macrophages, NO has the ability to kill tumor cells and bacteria. NOS2 also has nitrosylase activity and mediates the S-nitrosylation of cytosolic target proteins such as COX2. Its expression is induced by endotoxins, cytokines, and IFN-γ, in conjunction with bacterial lipopolysaccharides (LPS), TNF, or IL1B/interleukin-1β. This enzyme plays a significant role in immune responses and is involved in the pathogenesis of various diseases, making it an important factor in canine health and disease management.
