Target Information
Canine von willebrand Factor (vWF) is a glycoprotein crucial for normal hemostasis in dogs. It is essential for platelet adhesion at the site of vascular injury and for the stabilization of factor VIII in the blood, preventing its degradation. vWF is mostly synthesized by endothelial cells and is involved in the formation of thrombus when blood vessels are damaged. It plays a significant role in arterial thrombosis and is associated with conditions like von Willebrand disease (vWD) in dogs, where a deficiency can lead to severe bleeding disorders.
