Target Information
Interleukin 5 is encoded by the IL5 gene in goats. IL-5 binds to the interleukin-5 receptor, promoting the growth of B cells and increasing the secretion of immunoglobulins, primarily IgA. IL5 was originally defined as a T-cell-derived cytokine that induces activated B cells to terminal differentiate into antibody-secreting plasma cells. It acts on target cells by binding to its specific receptor.
