Target Information
Carbonic Anhydrase 2 is encoded by the CA2 gene in chicken. It plays a crucial role in maintaining acid-base balance and fluid balance in the body. Chicken carbonic anhydrase plays an important role in egg shell formation. It also plays important roles in gas transport, acid-base regulation, bone resorption and calcification, ion transport, and various secretory functions in several tissues. Defects in this enzyme are associated with osteopetrosis and renal tubular acidosis.
