Target Information
Matrix Metalloproteinase 13 (MMP-13) is a collagenase that plays a crucial role in the irreversible destruction of cartilage collagen in conditions such as osteoarthritis (OA). It is involved in tissue remodeling and extracellular matrix turnover. Matrix Metalloproteinase 13 is encoded by the MMP13 gene in horses. MMP-13 has been shown to be more sensitive to doxycycline than other MMPs.
