Target Information
In felines, cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor 1 (CDKN1A, also known as p21) is a key regulator of the cell cycle. It binds to and inhibits cyclin-dependent kinases (CDKs), arresting the cell cycle at the G1 phase and regulating cell proliferation. CDKN1A expression is tightly controlled by the tumor suppressor p53 and plays a crucial role in DNA damage response by inducing cell cycle arrest, facilitating DNA repair, and preventing apoptosis. It also participates in cell differentiation and senescence.
