Target Information

Feline potassium voltage-gated channel subfamily E member 1 (KCNE1) is a single-transmembrane protein that acts as an auxiliary subunit of voltage-gated potassium channel complexes, regulating their function. In the heart, KCNE1 forms complexes with KCNQ1 (Kv7.1) to regulate cardiac myocyte repolarization and maintain heart rhythm. It also functions in the inner ear, where it regulates potassium ion transport. Abnormal function of KCNE1 in cats may be associated with arrhythmias and other diseases.
