Target Information
The H11N2 subtype of avian influenza viruses (AIVs) commonly infects both wild and domestic birds globally. To date, H11 viruses have not been detected in humans and, coupled with their limited ability to grow in mammals, this subtype appears to have low zoonotic potential for mammals. The hemagglutinin (HA) protein of the influenza virus is a crucial glycoprotein that plays an essential role in the initial stages of viral infection.
