Klebsiella species are well-recognized as rod-shaped, gram-negative, non-motile, lactose-fermenting, and facultatively anaerobic bacteria within the Enterobacteriaceae family. Klebsiella pneumoniae is an opportunistic pathogen linked to various complex clinical infections in both humans and animals. Undecaprenyl phosphate-alpha-4-amino-4-deoxy-L-arabinose arabinosyl transferase catalyzes the transfer of the L-Ara4N moiety of the glycolipid undecaprenyl phosphate-alpha-L-Ara4N to lipid A.
