Target Information
Leishmania infantum putative kinesin K39 is a kinesin-related protein that contains a repetitive immunodominant epitope. This protein is highly conserved among viscerotropic leishmania species and is found in both promastigote and amastigote forms of the parasite. The K39 antigen is used in the serodiagnosis of visceral leishmaniasis and is considered a potential target for vaccine development due to its ability to elicit a humoral immune response.
