Nairobi sheep disease (NSD) is a tick-borne viral infection affecting sheep and goats, marked by symptoms such as fever, hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, abortion, and high mortality. It is considered one of the most pathogenic viruses in small ruminants. The virus's two membrane glycoproteins, Gn and Gc, are thought to influence cell tropism and facilitate the infection of susceptible cells by recognizing and binding to specific cellular receptors.
