Vibrio vulnificus is a naturally occurring bacterium found in warm, brackish seawater. It is a marine zoonotic pathogen that can cause fatal septicemia, known as vibriosis, in both humans and fish. Cytolysin is a member of bacterial hemolysins are exotoxins that attack blood cell membranes and cause cell rupture by mechanisms not clearly defined.
