Target Information

FABP5 plays several crucial roles in lipid metabolism. It binds long-chain fatty acids at the cell surface, acts as a chaperone in the cytosol, and delivers these fatty acids as signaling molecules to nuclear PPARβ/δ, thereby promoting lipogenesis. Additionally, previous research has identified Fatty Acid-Binding Protein 5 as a functional biomarker and indicator of ferroptosis in cerebral hypoxia.
