Rickettsia typhi is a small, aerobic, rod-shaped, gram-negative bacterium that is an obligate intracellular organism. Like all rickettsial species, R. typhi is a zoonotic pathogen responsible for causing murine typhus, which manifests with non-specific mild symptoms such as fevers, headaches, body pains, and rashes. The probable ABC transporter permease protein RT0041 may be a component of an ABC transporter complex.
