Target Information

Shigella primarily causes disease in primates and does not affect other mammals. Shigella flexneri is one of the species within the Shigella genus. Alongside Shigella sonnei, it accounts for 90% of shigellosis cases. Long-chain fatty acid transport protein (FadL) is involved in translocation of long-chain fatty acids across the outer membrane. FadL may form a specific channel.
