Target Information
Feline coronavirus non-structural protein 7a (NSP7a) is a hydrophobic protein with a transmembrane domain. It is involved in viral replication and immune evasion by acting as a type I interferon antagonist. In veterinary medicine, NSP7a is a virulence factor that contributes to the pathogenicity of feline infectious peritonitis virus (FIPV), a severe form of feline coronavirus infection. It is also used as a target for diagnostic assays and vaccine development to control FIP.
