Target Information

Shigella primarily causes disease in primates and does not affect other mammals. Shigella flexneri is one of the species within the Shigella genus. Alongside Shigella sonnei, it accounts for 90% of shigellosis cases. Type 3 Secretion System Translocon Protein SctB is a component of the type III secretion system (T3SS), also called injectisome, which is used to inject bacterial effector proteins into eukaryotic host cells.
