Target Information

The IAV subtype H12 was initially identified in Canada in 1976, with the first isolation of the H12N1 virus from a mallard duck in 1983. The hemagglutinin (HA) protein, a crucial glycoprotein of the influenza virus, plays an essential role in the early stages of viral infection. The HA1 subunit, which contains a receptor binding site, facilitates the virus's attachment to specific sialyl sugar chains on the host cell surface.
