Target Information
Swine carboxypeptidase A (CTSA) is a multifunctional lysosomal serine carboxypeptidase with both protective and catalytic functions. CTSA forms a complex with β-galactosidase and neuraminidase, protecting these enzymes from lysosomal degradation and ensuring their stability and activity. Additionally, CTSA exhibits carboxypeptidase activity, capable of hydrolyzing bioactive peptides such as bradykinin, substance P, oxytocin, angiotensin I, and endothelin I . In swine, research on CTSA helps to understand its role in energy metabolism and disease, providing a basis for developing new therapeutic strategies.
