Target Information

Thyroxine (T4) is an iodinated amino acid derivative synthesised primarily in the epithelial cells of the thyroid gland, and is a hormone secreted by the thyroid gland into the bloodstream. The manufactured form of thyroxine used for thyroid hormone replacement is called L-thyroxine or Levothyroxine. Insufficient thyroxine can result in various health issues. Too much thyroxine causes a condition known as thyrotoxicosis.
