Target Information

Bovine Insulin-like 3 is encoded by the INSL3 gene in cattle. It is primarily produced in gonadal tissues in both males and females. It may regulate the growth and differentiation of the gubernaculum, contributing to intra-abdominal testicular descent. It is a major secretory product of the Leydig cells from both fetal and adult testes. INSL3 provides the first example of a gender-specific fetal hormone with the potential to influence both placental and maternal physiology.

Target/Biomarker Bovine INSL3
Target Synonym Insulin-like 3; Leydig insulin-like peptide; Ley-I-L; Relaxin-like factor; INSL3; RLF
