Opticin is a glycoprotein that belongs to the small leucine-rich proteoglycan (SLRP) family. It is primarily found in the eye, particularly in the vitreous humor and cornea. Opticin consists of four leucine-rich repeat (LRR) domains. It interacts with collagen fibrils and other extracellular matrix components. Bovine Opticin is encoded by the OPTC gene in cattle. It is an extracellular matrix protein which has been shown to have anti-angiogenic properties.
