Target Information
Phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (PEPCK) is an enzyme involved in the metabolic pathway of gluconeogenesis. It plays a crucial role in maintaining blood glucose levels by converting oxaloacetate into phosphoenolpyruvate and carbon dioxide. PEPCK exists in two forms: cytosolic and mitochondrial. Bovine Phosphoenolpyruvate Carboxykinase, Cytosolic is encoded by the PCK1 gene in cattle. It is a key rate-limiting enzyme in gluconeogenesis, which catalyzes the conversion of oxaloacetate to phosphoenolpyruvate.
