Target Information

Bovine Serine/Threonine-Protein Phosphatase Pp1-Alpha Catalytic Subunit is encoded by the PPP1CA gene in cattle. It plays an instrumental role in glycogen metabolism by interconverting between phosphorylase a and b. PP1A belongs to a class of phosphatases known as protein serine/threonine phosphatases. It is highly conserved among all eukaryotes and forms complexes with various regulatory subunits. PP1A is involved in the control of glycogen metabolism, muscle contraction, cell progression, neuronal activities, RNA splicing, mitosis, cell division, apoptosis, protein synthesis, and regulation of membrane receptors and channels.
