Target Information

Glycogen Phosphorylase, Brain Form (PYGB) is an enzyme that plays a crucial role in glycogenolysis-the breakdown of glycogen into glucose subunits. It catalyzes the rate-limiting step in glycogenolysis by releasing glucose-1-phosphate from the terminal alpha-1,4-glycosidic bond. Bovine Glycogen Phosphorylase, Brain Form is encoded by the PYGB gene in cattle. It has been identified as a novel metabolic target with potential applications in the management and/or prevention of metastasis in breast cancer.

Target/Biomarker Bovine PYGB
Target Synonym glycogen phosphorylase B; glycogen phosphorylase, brain form; brain glycogen phosphorylase; phosphorylase, glycogen; brain
