Target Information

Antimicrobial peptides, notably S100A7, play a beneficial role in host defense mechanisms. In the caprine model, S100A7 levels were significantly increased in goats with subclinical mastitis and showed no significant difference in goats with clinical mastitis compared to healthy dairy goats. However, the concentration of S100A7 in milk has a limited correlation with somatic cell count or mastitis.
