Target Information
Cholecystokinin is encoded by the CCK gene in chickens. CCK is synthesized and secreted by enteroendocrine cells in the duodenum. Its presence triggers the release of digestive enzymes from the pancreas and bile from the gallbladder. CCK also acts as a hunger suppressant. It is widely distributed in the gastrointestinal tract and central nervous system and regulates a number of physiological functions by activating its receptors.
