Target Information

Vasoactive intestinal peptide is encoded by the VIP gene in goats. VIP causes vasodilation, lowers arterial blood pressure, stimulates myocardial contractility, increases glycogenolysis and relaxes the smooth muscle of trachea, stomach and gall bladder. Studies have demonstrated that VIP stimulates the release of growth hormone (GH) by acting directly on the adenohypophysis in goats.
