Serum Amyloid A (SAA) is a family of apolipoproteins, meaning they bind to lipids (fats) like cholesterol for transport in the bloodstream. They are found in plasma, the liquid portion of blood, and play various roles in the body, both in normal physiology and disease states. SAA1-mediated NOX4/ROS pathway could activate p38MAPK/NF-κB pathway, thereby contributing to the release of inflammatory factors in LPS-induced vascular smooth muscle cells .
