Target Information
Nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells (NF-κB) is a family of transcription factor protein complexes that regulate DNA transcription, cytokine production, and cell survival. NFKB1 encodes the p105 subunit of NF-κB, which undergoes processing to produce the NF-κB p50 subunit. Among transcription factors, NFKB1 is the most abund antly expressed in macrophages, which are crucial cellular drivers of inflammation and immunity. Guinea pigs are extensively used as models for respiratory diseases, particularly asthma and airway inflammation. The NF-κB pathway is very important in the studies of airway hyperresponsiveness.
