Target Information

Chicken CD28 is a critical co-stimulatory molecule found on the surface of avian T cells, playing an essential role in the activation and regulation of the immune response. As a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily, CD28 interacts with its ligands, primarily B7 proteins (CD80 and CD86), on antigen-presenting cells (APCs) to provide a second signal required for full T cell activation. This co-stimulatory signal is necessary for T cell proliferation, cytokine production, and the transition from an initial immune response to a more effective and sustained reaction against pathogens. The interaction between CD28 and B7 proteins enhances T cell survival, promotes the differentiation of T cells into memory cells, and supports the overall adaptive immune response.
