Target Information

Chicken IgA, or avian immunoglobulin A, is a type of antibody found in chickens that plays a crucial role in mucosal immunity. IgA is particularly important as it is the primary immunoglobulin present at mucosal surfaces, such as the gastrointestinal, respiratory, and reproductive tracts, as well as in secretions like saliva, tears, and milk. This antibody is effective in neutralizing pathogens and toxins at the mucosal barriers, preventing their entry into the body. Chicken IgA is produced by plasma cells in response to antigen stimulation and is often found in the form of dimeric or poLymeric IgA, which is stabilized by the joining (J) chain and secretory component for enhanced stability and function in mucosal secretions.
