Target Information
Porcine advanced glycosylation end product-specific receptor (pAGER, also known as receptor for advanced glycation endproducts or RAGE) is a multiligand receptor that plays a significant role in the pathogenesis of various inflammatory and age-related diseases. pAGER is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily and is expressed on the surface of multiple cell types, including endothelial cells, neurons, and immune cells. This receptor is known for its ability to bind and respond to advanced glycation end products (AGEs), which are molecules formed through a non-enzymatic glycosylation process involving reducing sugars and proteins. The interaction between pAGER and AGEs can lead to cellular signaling cascades that contribute to oxidative stress, inflammation, and cellular dysfunction.
