Target Information
Porcine T-Complex Protein 1 Subunit Beta (CCT2), also known as the beta subunit of the chaperonin-containing TCP-1 (CCT) complex, is a crucial component of the CCT chaperonin system. This complex plays a vital role in assisting the folding of actin and tubulin, two major components of the cytoskeleton, which are essential for maintaining cell shape, facilitating intracellular transport, and cell division. CCT2, as part of the CCT complex, is highly conserved across species, reflecting its fundamental importance in cellular physiology. It contributes to the folding and assembly of newly synthesized proteins, particularly those with complex structures, and helps in the refolding of misfolded proteins, thus preventing the aggregation that can lead to cellular stress and disease.
