Target Information

Porcine catenin beta 1 (pβ-catenin) is a multifunctional protein that plays a central role in cell adhesion and Wnt signaling pathways in pigs. As a component of the adherens junctions, pβ-catenin helps maintain tissue integrity by linking the actin cytoskeleton to cell surface proteins called cadherins. This interaction is crucial for the structural stability and function of epithelial and endothelial tissues. In addition to its role in cell adhesion, pβ-catenin is a key mediator of the Wnt signaling cascade, which is involved in cell fate determination, proliferation, and differentiation during development. When Wnt ligands bind to their receptors, they trigger a signaling pathway that leads to the accumulation of pβ-catenin in the cytoplasm and nucleus. Here, it acts as a co-activator for T cell factor/lymphoid enhancer-binding factor (TCF/LEF) transcription factors, driving the expression of Wnt target genes.
