Target Information

Porcine glutamate receptor ionotropic AMPA 1 (GRIA1), also known as the AMPA-type glutamate receptor, is a key player in the excitatory neurotransmission in the porcine central nervous system. This receptor, when activated by the neurotransmitter glutamate, allows the flow of sodium and potassium ions across the neuronal cell membrane, leading to depolarization and the propagation of nerve impulses. GRIA1 is a subunit of the AMPA receptor, which is a tetrameric complex composed of various combinations of subunits, including GRIA1. The diversity in subunit composition endows the receptor with distinct functional properties, such as differences in ion permeability and sensitivity to modulatory agents.
