Target Information

Porcine glutathione S-transferase Mu 3 (pGSTM3) is a member of the glutathione S-transferase (GST) superfamily of enzymes, which are known for their role in detoxification processes and the maintenance of cellular homeostasis in pigs. GSTs are involved in the conjugation of reduced glutathione (GSH) to a wide range of electrophilic substrates, including toxic compounds and metabolic products, thereby facilitating their elimination from the body. pGSTM3, in particular, may have specialized functions within this family, potentially playing a role in the protection against oxidative stress and the metabolism of xenobiotics. This enzyme is crucial for the defense against reactive oxygen species and other harmful agents that can cause cellular damage.
