Target Information

Porcine GTP binding protein 1 (GTPBP1), also known as ARL1 or ARF-like 1, is a small GTPase that plays a critical role in various cellular processes in pigs. GTPBP1 is involved in the regulation of intracellular transport, particularly in the secretory and endocytic pathways, which are essential for maintaining cellular homeostasis. This protein functions as a molecular switch, cycling between an inactive GDP-bound state and an active GTP-bound state. The GTP-bound form of GTPBP1 interacts with a variety of effector proteins, modulating their activity and localization within the cell. It is particularly important in the regulation of vesicle formation, transport, and fusion with target membranes.
