Target Information
Porcine neurofilament heavy polypeptide (NF-H) is a vital component of the neuronal cytoskeleton, playing a crucial role in maintaining the structural integrity of neurons, particularly in the axonal domain. NF-H is one of the three main subunits of neurofilaments, which are essential for the radial expansion of myelinated axons and are critical for effective nerve conduction velocity. This protein is involved in axonal transport and synaptic plasticity, and its abnormal assembly is associated with several neurodegenerative diseases such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, and hereditary sensory-motor neuropathy.
