Target Information

Porcine neuropilin 1 (pNRP1) is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored membrane protein that functions as a co-receptor in various signaling pathways, particularly in the development and maintenance of the nervous system in pigs. It is widely expressed in neuronal cells and is involved in axonal guidance, synaptogenesis, and the regulation of blood vessel formation. pNRP1 interacts with multiple ligands, including semaphorins, vascular endothelial growth factors (VEGFs), and other growth factors, modulating their signaling effects. For instance, it plays a role in the repulsion or attraction of growing axons during the development of the nervous system, thereby influencing the patterning of neural networks.
